Drink drivers to appear in court

Two drivers have lost their licence on the spot after being caught drink driving in the south-east over the weekend.

About 9.45pm on Saturday 18 January, Limestone Coast Police stopped a white Holden Rodeo on Ormerod Street at Naracoorte for a mobile driver test.  The driver, a 49-year-old local man submitted to a breath test where he returned a positive result of 0.090. He was reported for drink driving and issued a six-month loss of licence.  His vehicle was impounded for 28 days and he will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Just before 7pm on Sunday 19 January, Limestone Coast Police stopped a silver Hyundai Elantra on Riddoch Highway at Tarpeena after it was detected travelling at 119km/h in a 100km/h zone.  The provisional driver, a 31-year-old woman from Naracoorte was breath tested and returned a positive result of 0.108 – more than double the legal limit.  She was reported for drink driving, exceeding the speed limit and breaching her licence conditions.  She was issued with a 12-month immediate loss of licence and her car was impounded for 28 days.  She will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
