24 Mar 2025 6:39am

A 17-year-old boy has been caught speeding in Naracoorte.

About 6.30pm on Saturday 23 March, police were conducting speed detection duties on the Riddoch Highway near Naracoorte when they detected a Toyota sedan travelling 198km/h in a signed 110km/h zone.

Police stopped the car and spoke with the driver a 17-year-old boy from Naracoorte.

It will be alleged the driver was using his mobile phone at the time to record the speedometer and one of the two passengers were not wearing their seat belt.

The driver was reported for a number of offences including aggravated extreme speed, contravene provisional drivers’ licence and P1 driver use of mobile phone.

The driver was issued a 12-month immediate loss of licence and the car was impounded for 28 days.

He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
