Kingston SE local wins Volunteer of the Year at Neighbourhood Watch Award 2024

05 Dec 2024 3:10pm

Neighbourhood Watch member Jan Criddle has been honoured for her tireless work improving community safety in Kingston South East.

Ms Criddle took out the Volunteer of the Year Award at the recent 2024 Neighbourhood Watch SA Awards.

“It’s an honour. I don’t think I deserve an award, others have done way more than I have,” Jan said.

The long-serving Neighbourhood Watch member has led several community safety initiatives including distributing Neighbourhood Watch bin stickers in and around Kingston, organising a security camera initiative and conducting bike and tool engraving sessions. She also arranged high-visibility vests for gopher drivers to improve their safety.

Jan helped organise recent scam awareness forums for seniors in Kingston and Robe that aimed to reduce the number of people affected by scams in the local community.

She is also reprising her annual role as lolly bag assembler for the Neighbourhood Watch stall at the Kingston District Council’s annual Christmas pageant on 13 December

“I’m always popular with the children at this time of the year,” Jan said.
