A man has been arrested after stealing copper piping and other metals in the Loxton area.
It will be alleged that between 22 March and 25 March, a 36-year-old local man stole copper pipes from a property on the Karoonda Highway.
He also stole water meters and fuel cans from a Loxton North property between 6 and 24 March.
The man was arrested and charged with numerous offences including serious criminal trespass, theft, unlawful possession and was refused bail to appear in court today (Tuesday 25 March).
The theft of copper is a widespread problem for public utilities and services, private companies, the building industry and scrap metal businesses.
The theft of scrap metal can also pose a danger to thieves as well as cause significant damage to property.
Police urge the public to be on the lookout and report any suspicious behaviour, day or night, to the Police Assistance Line on 131 444 immediately.
Scrap metal businesses are also reminded to be vigilant and keep good records of their business interactions in order to prevent opportunistic thieves from profiting from crime.
