A driver was arrested after police found breaking implements in his vehicle during a traffic stop at Murray Bridge overnight.

Police pulled over the Ford station wagon in Bridge Street, Murray Bridge just after 1am on Thursday 20 February.

Police checks revealed the driver, a 46-year-old Murray Bridge man, was unlicensed.

While speaking with the driver, the officer allegedly noticed a traditional Maori wooden baton, a white full-face LED beauty mask and bag containing screwdrivers and torches in the rear passenger footwell.

The man was arrested and charged with going equipped to commit an offence and issued with a fine for driving unlicensed.

He was bailed to appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court on 2 April.
