Murray Mallee police have detected six drivers committing traffic offences in the region over the weekend.
At 9.50am on Friday 28 February Police stopped car on the Princes Highway, Monteith and submitted the driver to a roadside drug test. A 69-year-old man from Long Flat allegedly returned a positive result for cannabis. He was issued with a three-month instant loss of licence and may be reported for drug driving following results of a forensic analysis.
Police stopped a Holden sedan on East Terrace, Murray Bridge about 1.30am on Saturday 1 March and breath tested the driver. She allegedly produced a blood alcohol reading of 0.081. She also had three passengers under the age of 16 with her in the car at the time. A 25-year-old woman from Murray Bridge was reported for drink driving and issued with a six-month instant loss of licence. She will be summonsed to appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court at a later date.
Just after 5pm on Saturday, Police reported a 58-year-old man from Mannum for drink driving after he was stopped on Adelaide Road. When breath tested, he allegedly produced a blood alcohol reading of 0.127. His vehicle was impounded for 28 days, he was issued with a six-month instant loss of licence, and he will be summonsed to appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court at a later date.
About 5.30pm on Saturday, police stopped a man driving on King George Street at Mannum and breath tested the driver. He allegedly produced a blood alcohol reading of 0.090. A 72-year-old man from Mannum was reported for drink driving and issued with a six-month instant loss of licence. The man’s car was impounded for 28 days, and he will be summonsed to appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court at a later date.
At 6pm on Saturday, a 49-year-old man from Mannum was stopped and submitted to a drug test. He allegedly returned a positive result to cannabis. He was issued with a three-month instant loss of licence and may be reported for drug driving following results of a forensic analysis.
About 2.30am on Monday 3 March, Police reported a 47-year-old woman from Renmark for drink driving after she was stopped on the Sturt Highway, Monash. She was breath tested and allegedly produced a blood alcohol reading of 0.083. She was issued with a six-month instant loss of licence, her vehicle was impounded for 28 days, and she will be summonsed to appear in the Berri Magistrates Court at a later date.
