Four drivers have been caught under the influence on the weekend in the Murraylands.
On Saturday 15 March, police detected a car speeding on the Sturt Highway, Annadale. The driver, a 32-year-old man from Renmark underwent a roadside screening test, returning a positive result for illicit drugs. He received a three-month immediate loss of licence notice and may face further charges pending forensic analysis of his drug test.
On Saturday 15 March, police stopped a car on Lawrie Terrace, Waikerie and the driver underwent a breath test, returning a positive reading of 0.092. The 26-year-old man from Waikerie was issued with a six-month immediate loss of licence notice and his car was impounded for 28 days. He will be summoned to appear in Berri Magistrates Court at a later date.
On Saturday 15 March police stopped a car on Ranco Road, Sunlands and the driver, a 53-year-old local woman underwent a breath test and returned a positive reading of 0.095.
She also only had a learner’s permit and was not displaying any L plates or had a qualified supervising driver. She will be summonsed to appear in Berri Magistrates Court at a later date.
On Saturday 15 March, police were called to Nookamka Terrace, Barmera after reports of a car being driven erratically. Police located the vehicle with the driver asleep behind the wheel. The 19-year-old man from Paringa underwent a breath test and returned a positive reading of 0.177. He was reported for drink-driving, he was issued with a 12-month immediate loss of licence notice and had his vehicle impounded for 28 days. He will be summonsed to appear in Berri Magistrates Court at a later date.
