Good sleuthing by police and public lead to arrest

A man has been arrested after accessing a shack at Cadell overnight.

About 10.15pm Tuesday 16 July police were called to a home on Kings Riverside Drive after the owner was alerted via her phone that someone was on her property at Cadell.

She was able to check CCTV footage and provide an accurate description of the man to responding patrols.

When patrols got to the home the suspect had fled the scene, but police found damage to the CCTV cameras and to a smart metre.

Following an investigation, police attended a home on nearby Gordon Road, as police were knocking on the door a 51-year-old man came walking out of the scrub. Officers detained the man while another officer walked down the path where the man had come out from, where they located clothing that the suspect from the CCTV had been wearing!

The man was arrested and charged with being unlawfully on premises and property damage. At his home police allegedly located a stolen boat, an Apple computer and other items suspected of having been stolen.

He was bailed to appear at the Berri Magistrates Court on 23 September.
