Police have reported five drivers for traffic offences in the Murray Mallee region over the weekend.
About 12.30am on Saturday 16 November, Police reported a 51-year-old woman from Murray Bridge for driving while disqualified. Police stopped the woman on Swanport Road and discovered her licence had been disqualified. Her vehicle was defected after it was deemed to be unroadworthy and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
Just before 4pm on Saturday, a 32-year-old man was stopped driving on Old Princes Highway and submitted to a drug test. He allegedly returned a positive result for cannabis and methamphetamine. The Murray Bridge man was issued with a three-month instant loss of licence and may be summoned to appear in court pending results of a forensic analysis.
A 58-year-old man from Murray Bridge was reported for drink driving after he was stopped on Hawke Road at 1.30am on Sunday 17 November. Police will allege that the man allegedly produced a blood alcohol reading of 0.227, more than five times the legal limit. He was issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence, his vehicle was impounded for 28 days and he will be summoned to appear in Murray Bridge Magistrates Court at a later date.
Police reported a 54-year-old man from Para Hills after he was stopped on the Princes Highway at Monteith at 2pm on Monday 18 November. The man was stopped at a roadside driver testing site and allegedly returned a positive result for methamphetamine. He was issued with a three-month instant loss of licence and had his vehicle impounded for 28 days.
His vehicle was also searched and a small amount of drugs and drug paraphernalia were located and seized. He may be summonsed to appear in court pending results of a forensic analysis.
Just after 1.30pm on Monday, Police reported a 60-year-old man from Tailem Bend after he allegedly produced a blood alcohol reading of 0.098. He was reported for drink driving, issued with a six-month instant loss of licence and his vehicle was impounded for 28 days. He will be summonsed to appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court at a later date.
