In December 2023, Murray Mallee Police created a yearlong operation in an effort to reduce the number of lives lost on South Australian roads.
Each month members have dedicated one day targeting the fatal five offences of speeding, dangerous road users, seatbelts, distraction and drink / drug drivers.
On Wednesday 23 October, Murray Bridge Police conducted a static driver testing station at the Monteith weighbridge with the assistance of Traffic Services Branch, Highway Patrols, STAR dog operations and national heavy vehicle regulators.
Police stopped 475 drivers and were pleased to advise that they all produced a negative result to drug and alcohol tests.
Officers issued 16 expiation notices for a range of traffic offences and five vehicles were defected.
