Murray Mallee weekend traffic report

Murray Mallee Police have detected five drivers behaving poorly over the weekend.

On Friday 14 February, Murray Bridge Police stopped a car on Swanport Road at Murray Bridge for a random driver test.  Checks revealed the driver, a 33-year-old woman from Murray Bridge, was disqualified from driving.  She was reported for this offence and her car was impounded for 28 days.  She will be summonsed to appear in Murray Bridge Magistrates Court at a later date.

On Saturday 15 February, Murray Bridge Police arrested a 40-year-old local man after he was stopped whilst driving on Adelaide Road.  The driver provided false details to police.  Further investigations revealed the man was disqualified from driving.  He was arrested and charged with these offences. He was granted police bail to appear in court at a later date.

On Saturday 15 February, Meningie Police stopped a car travelling on McCallum Street for a random driver test.  The Provisional licence holder, an 18-year-old man from Meningie submitted to a breath test where he provided a positive result of 0.098 – almost double the legal limit. He was reported for drink driving and breaching his licence conditions.  He was issued a six-month instant loss of licence and his vehicle was impounded for 28 days.  He will be summonsed to appear in Murray Bridge Magistrates Court at a later date.

On Saturday 15 February, Murray Bridge Police stopped a car travelling on Standen Street and breath tested the driver, a 31-year-old local man.  He returned a positive result of 0.136 – nearly three times over the legal limit.  He was reported for drink driving, issued a six-month immediate loss of licence and his vehicle was impounded for 28 days.  He will be summonsed to appear in Murray Bridge Magistrates Court at a later date.

On Sunday 16 February, Murray Bridge Police reported a 32-year-old local man after he was stopped whilst driving on Cypress Terrace.  He submitted to a drug test where he returned a positive result for cannabis.  He may be reported pending an analysis of his sample by Forensic SA.  He was issued a three-month immediate loss of licence.
