Murray Mallee weekend traffic round-up

Five drivers have been caught behaving poorly in Murray Mallee over the weekend.

An 82-year-old woman from Barmera has been reported for drink driving after she was stopped on Hawdon Street at Barmera about 8.30pm on Friday 7 March.  She submitted to a breath test and provided a result of 0.116.  She received a six-month immediate loss of licence and her car was impounded for 28 days.  She will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Just after 10pm on Saturday 8 March, a 62-year-old man from Berri was reported for failing to comply with a breath analysis.  The driver was stopped on Kay Avenue at Berri and provided a positive alco test however he failed to comply with a breath analysis test a short time later.  The man was issued a 12-month instant loss of licence and his vehicle was impounded for 28 days.

Just before midnight on Saturday 8 March, a driver was travelling on Eighteenth Street at Renmark when patrols stopped him for a mobile driver test.  The man, a 45-year-old Paringa man, was breath tested and provided a positive result of 0.117 – more than double the legal limit.  He was also reported for driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle and driving whilst being unlicenced.  His vehicle was defected, and he was issued with a six-month immediate loss of licence.

A driver was stopped on Albert Street at Meningie about 3am on Sunday 9 March for a mobile driver test.  Police requested he submit to a breath test however he refused to do so and the 43-year-old Meningie man was arrested.  He was charged with failing to comply with police directions to submit a breath test and resisting arrest.  He was issued a 12-month loss of licence and his vehicle was impounded for 28 days.

About 8pm on Sunday 9 March, a 26-year-old Tailem Bend was driving on Princes Highway at Tailem Ben when he was stopped for a mobile driver test.  He submitted to a breath test where he provided a positive result of 0.106.  He was reported for drink driving, he was issued an instant loss of licence for six months and the car was impounded for 28 days.
