Arrest after hit-run

05 Feb 2025 6:43am

A man is in hospital after a hit-run crash in the northern suburbs late last night.

Just after 11.30pm on Tuesday 4 February, police and emergency services were called to Burdell Street at Elizabeth Downs after reports a car collided with a pedestrian.

The victim, a 56-year-old man from an Elizabeth Downs address, suffered leg injuries and was taken to hospital where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Witnesses advised the gold Ford Futura was last seen heading west on Burdell Street.

About an hour later, following an investigation, patrols attended an Elizabeth Downs address and arrested a 42-year-old man.  He was charged with act likely to cause harm and leaving the scene of a crash.  He was granted police bail to appear in Elizabeth Magistrates Court on 19 March.

The driver was taken to hospital where he had a sample of blood taken and the car was towed from the scene.
