Arrest for child exploitation material

03 Apr 2025 12:45pm

A northern suburbs man was arrested yesterday and charged with being in possession of child exploitation material.

On Wednesday 2 April, Investigators from the Public Protection Branch arrested a 33-year-old man from the northern suburbs and charged him with one count of Knowingly being in possession of Child exploitation material and one count of failing to comply with his reporting obligations.  He was refused police bail and will appear in Elizabeth Magistrates Court on the 3 April.

Detective Chief Inspector Naomi Oberscheidt, Officer in Charge, Offender Management Section says, “The impact of child abuse imagery extends far beyond the immediate victim.  Each time these images are viewed, the child is re-victimised, perpetuating their trauma and suffering.

Possessing and distributing child abuse material fuels a global industry that exploits and harms children. Members of the public who have information about people involved in child abuse and exploitation are urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.accce.gov.au/report.  If you know abuse is happening right now or a child is at risk, call police immediately on 000 (Triple zero)”.
