09 Jul 2024 6:24am

A man was arrested for drug trafficking at Burton in the early hours of this morning after a report of suspicious behaviour.

At 4am on Tuesday 9 July, police received a call from a resident reporting a suspicious person stealing parts off a burnt-out vehicle in the street.

The stolen silver Ford sedan had been dumped and torched in Jasper Drive in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A patrol attended and located a man with the vehicle.  It will be alleged a search of the man and his car revealed he was in possession of a large spool of copper wiring and a trafficable quantity of methamphetamine.

The 53-year-old Redwood Park man was arrested and charged with unlawful possession and trafficking in a controlled drug.  He was refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court later today.
