A man has been arrested after allegedly starting multiple fires in Elizabeth South earlier this morning.
Between 3.20am and 3.40am on Sunday 16 February, police and emergency services were called to multiple reports of fires in the northern suburbs.
Northern District patrols were on Goodman Road where they located a recently lit fire. Police searched the area when they spotted a man walking from Goodman Road. He was searched and a lighter was located on him.
Following an investigation, the 54-year-old man from Elizabeth Downs was arrested and Northern District Detectives are speaking with the man. He is likely to be charged with arson.
A total of six fires were lit between Philip Highway and Goodman Road at Elizabeth South. Three fires were rubbish items however they threatened nearby homes. Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the fires.
