Assault at Smithfield Plains

Just after midnight Friday 4 April, police and emergency services were called to Southan Street after reports a man had been stabbed.

When police arrived, they located a 69-year-old man with a stab wound to his torso. He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A 46-year-old woman was arrested at the scene. She has been charged with assault cause harm.

She has been refused police bail and will attend at the Elizabeth Magistrates Court today (Friday 4 April).

Police advise the matter is not random with both parties known to each other.
