17 Oct 2024 6:51am

An alleged drink driver had his car impounded by police at Elizabeth Grove last night.

Police were called to Main North Road, Elizabeth Grove about 8.40pm on Wednesday 16 October by a concerned motorist who reported a ute swerving left to right across the road.

At one point the vehicle mounted the kerb before it stopped on Mahood Street, Elizabeth Grove.

A patrol arrived and took the allegedly grossly intoxicated driver to the Elizabeth Police Station for testing.

Police are waiting on the results of a blood test, but in the meantime, the 45-year-old Elizabeth Vale man has been reported for driving while under the influence and his ute was impounded for 28 days.

He has been issued with a direction not to drive for 24 hours.  He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Further charges and immediate loss of licence may be issued depending on the results of the blood test.
