Driver arrested with dodgy plates in northern suburbs

30 Jun 2024 7:00pm

A man has been arrested after a pursuit through the northern suburbs this afternoon.

It will be alleged that about 3.20pm today (Sunday 30 June), police were called to Medina Lane at Munno Para after reports of a white Isuzu ute with homemade number plates.

When police located the vehicle on Curtis Road, it sped off.

Checks revealed that the car was stolen.

It was pursued through the northern suburbs before road spikes were successfully used on Main North Road to try and stop the ute.

The driver continued on before abandoning the car and running away, but he was arrested soon after.

The 28-year-old man from the Yorke Peninsula was arrested and charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle and dangerous driving to escape a police pursuit.

He did not apply for bail and is expected to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court tomorrow, Monday 1 July.
