Driver caught under the influence at Elizabeth South

20 Jan 2025 6:38am

A man has lost his licence for a year after he was caught drink-driving yesterday afternoon at Elizabeth South.

It will be alleged that about 4.30pm on Sunday 19 January, police stopped a Holden Commodore sedan on Philip Highway and the driver underwent a breath test.

He returned a positive reading of 0.175.

The driver also tested positive to cannabis.

A search of the man’s car uncovered a small amount of the illegal drug as well.

The 61-year-old Elizabeth Downs man was reported for drink-driving, he was issued a 12-month immediate loss of licence notice and his car was impounded for 28 days.

He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

He may face further penalties once his drug sample has been forensically analysed.
