A man has been arrested overnight after being found in a stolen car with false plates.
At about 11.40 pm last night (Tuesday 18 March) police in Paralowie conducted registrations check on a stationary vehicle in Rita Drive which revealed the silver Ford sedan was bearing false plates. Numerous other patrols quickly attended the area and cordons were established.
A short time later, the sedan attempted to drive off from Police, when spikes were successfully deployed on Rita Drive. Police followed the vehicle to Mayo Crescent, Salisbury Downs where the male driver exited the vehicle and attempted to run into a nearby house. Police quickly chased the man and safely arrested him without incident.
Further checks on the vehicle revealed it was stolen from a Port Adelaide address on Sunday 23 February. Checks on the man identified he was also wanted for a warrant, breaching his bail and other outstanding matters.
The 29-year-old man from Hope Valley was charged with numerous charges including breach of bail, illegal use of a motor vehicle, driving a car with unassigned plates, unlicensed never held and the outstanding warrant.
He was refused bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court today.
