A man has been arrested after attempting to flee into a cemetery at Clearview last night.
About 9.30pm on Thursday 10 April, Northern District patrols spotted a green VE Holden utility travelling on Main North Road at Salisbury Park after it was seen to be driven in an unsafe manner.
Patrols attempted to stop the vehicle however it failed to stop and continued onto Kesters Road and Bridge Road. PolAir was overhead quickly and followed the car as it made its way to Clearview and entered a cemetery car park on Browning Street.
The driver got out of the car but changed his mind and continued driving to an Enfield address where he attempted to collect a passenger who got spooked and returned to the address.
The driver made his way back to the cemetery, he exited the vehicle and ran into the cemetery. Police cordoned off the area and the man was located a short time later.
Police searched the car and located a large amount of cash, tobacco products and drugs.
A 40-year-old man from Burton was charged with failing to stop when required, driving unlicenced, unlawful possession, possessing controlled drug and possessing equipment to use with controlled drug. He was granted police bail to appear in Elizabeth Magistrates Court on 6 June.
