Northern District patrols chased down a man suspected of lighting three fires at Elizabeth North yesterday afternoon.
Just before 4pm on Monday 6 January, a fire was reported in a reserve behind Donnington Road, Elizabeth North.
Members of the public acted quickly and attempted to extinguish the fire. A man was reportedly seen walking away from the scene.
Another fire was spotted about 50 metres away.
Patrols arrived and located a third fire nearby. All fires were extinguished by MFS crews.
Police searched the area and located the suspect. After a short foot chase, he was apprehended.
The 36-year-old Elizabeth North man was arrested and charged with three counts of recklessly endangering property and hinder police. He was refused police bail and appeared in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court today.
All three fires were located within about 300 metres of each other, with one fire blackening the metal fence at the rear of a residential property. There was no other property damage reported.
Crime scene investigators attended and examined the scenes.
