Pursuit ends with arrest

24 Nov 2024 6:26am

A woman has been arrested after being pursued through the northern suburbs late last night.

Just before 11.30pm on Saturday 23 November, police spotted a black Toyota Corolla sedan travelling on Hamblynn Road at Elizabeth Downs that had its lights switched off.

Checks revealed the car was stolen from an Elizabeth Downs address earlier this month.

Patrols followed the car for a short time and successfully spiked the tyres on Main North Road.

The car continued travelling at speed on Main North Road and drove through a red stop light.

The vehicle slowed down and when the car came to a stop on Target Hill Road police quickly arrested the driver and single occupant.

A 36-year-old woman was charged with driving dangerously to escape a police pursuit, driving whilst being disqualified and illegal use of a motor vehicle.  She did not apply for bail and will appear in Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday 25 November.
