Pursuits in northern suburbs

18 Sep 2024 8:55am

Police have arrested a man and are looking for further suspects following pursuits in the northern suburbs overnight.

About 2am on Wednesday 18 September, police attempted to stop a black Mazda CX7 in the vicinity of Grange Road, Findon. The vehicle initially stopped but as police approached on foot, the vehicle sped off towards the North South Motorway.

PolAir was able to pick up the vehicle heading north on the motorway towards Waterloo Corner and tracked it to the vicinity of Heaslip Road where it stopped.

A passenger got out of the Mazda and then into a grey Holden sedan parked at a service station on the corner of Heaslip Road and Pilatus Drive.

Both vehicles then stopped in Hercules Drive and as police approached, two suspects got into the grey Holden leaving the Mazda behind.

PolAir subsequently tracked the Holden to a service station at Burton where it met up with a blue Holden ute. As police approached both vehicles sped off.

The ute was tracked to Hatcher Court at Waterloo Corner where the driver abandoned the vehicle and ran off into scrubland. This driver was located by police on Waterloo Corner Road and arrested.

Police patrols also pursued the grey Holden sedan for a brief time but was lost sight of. It was subsequently located abandoned in Elm Glade Road, Paralowie. Police searched the area but were not able to locate any suspects.

A 22-year-old man from Rosewater was charged with speed dangerous and carrying an offensive weapon. He was bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on 30 October.

The three vehicles are not reported as stolen.

Police investigations are continuing.
