Northern District Police and Police Dog Jax have arrested a man after a robbery at Smithfield this morning.
Just before 5.30am Monday 31 March, police were called to Anderson Walk after reports a person had been assaulted and their bag had been stolen. Patrols and PD Jax attended the area to cordon and search for the suspect. PD Jax conducted a lengthy track eventually locating the suspect at a house. Police allege that the suspect had some of the victim's property in his possession. PD Jax sniffed out more of the victim's property nearby.
A 24-year-old man from Smithfield was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery and carry an offensive weapon. He was refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court today.
During the investigation of this incident, police spoke with a woman who allegedly hindered their investigation and then kicked a police officer. The woman, a 47-year-old from Smithfield was arrested and charged with assault police and hinder. She was bailed to appear at the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on 8 May.
