Youth arrested for robbery at Blakeview

Police have arrested a teen after an attempt robbery at Blakeview yesterday.

About 9.40am on Monday 24 June, a woman was sitting at a café on Main Terrace when a teenage boy approached and attempted to grab her handbag placed at her feet.

While picking up the bag, he allegedly produced a knife and threatened her before walking out the cafe.

The suspect then dropped the bag in the car park after being confronted by a member of the public.

Thankfully the victim was not injured, and her property was recovered.

As a result of investigations, police arrested the youth yesterday afternoon.

A 15-year-old boy from Blakeview was charged with aggravated robbery. He was bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Youth Court on 2 August.
