A man will face court after being found in possession of a e-bike in Seacliff this morning.
At about 1.30am this morning (Thursday 20 March), police stopped and spoke with a man walking a suspected stolen e-bike on the Esplanade.
Police had a conversation with the man and obtained his details. It will be alleged the details he provided were false and were in fact his child’s details. Further checks were conducted which confirmed his identification and revealed the man had an outstanding warrant and was wanted for breaching his home detention bail.
Upon police identifying this, the man attempted to run from police. A short foot chase occurred before he was caught and arrested a short distance away.
The 50-year-old man from Robertstown was arrested and charged with unlawful possession, providing false details and the outstanding warrant.
He has been refused bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court today.
Enquiries are continuing to identify where the e-bike which had had its serial number removed was stolen from.
