Arrests after robbery at Morphett Vale

05 Mar 2025 10:10am

Two teens have been arrested after a woman was assaulted at Morphett Vale last night.

About 9pm on Tuesday 4 March, a woman was walking along Woolridge Street when she was approached by two girls who demanded her mobile phone. When the victim refused, she was assaulted and pushed to the ground. The suspects ran off after stealing the woman’s phone.

The 69-year-old Morphett Vale woman sustained facial injuries and was treated at the scene by ambulance officers.

Southern District police responded and located one of the suspects still in the area. The second suspect was located and arrested at her Morphett Vale home where the victim’s phone was recovered.

Police will allege that after stealing the phone, the pair made phone calls to a relative of the victim demanding money or else the victim would be further harmed.

Two 13-year-old girls from Morphett Vale and Hackham West were charged with aggravated robbery and attempt blackmail. They were both refused bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Youth Court today, Thursday 5 March.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have dashcam in the area to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers at www.crimestopperssa.com.au or on 1800 333 000.
