A teenager has been arrested after a serious assault in the southern suburbs.
It will be alleged that police were called to a disturbance in Maldon Avenue, Mitchell Park at 3am on Saturday 26 October.
Patrols arrived to find a front window had been smashed and the occupant, a 68-year-old woman, had been assaulted with a stick.
Investigators now believe that the weapon used was a fence paling or picket and may have been discarded nearby.
The victim was taken to hospital for medical treatment. Her injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Detectives are investigating whether the same group of people were involved in an incident at a Marion service station a short time earlier.
Police had been called to the service station on Marion Road, Marion just before 2am by reports that four people had been assaulted by two suspects.
Two of the victims, an 18-year-old man and a 24-year-old man, were taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Crime scene investigators attended and examined the scenes.
Later this afternoon, a 17-year-old boy from Whyalla was arrested and charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass and aggravated assault causing harm in relation to the Mitchell Park incident, and aggravated assault from the incident at Marion.
He is expected to be refused bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Monday.
Police are following positive lines of enquiry regarding the other two suspects, believed to be young men of Aboriginal appearance, wearing hoodies and dark clothing.
