Christies Beach theft and break-ins

04 Jul 2024 3:36pm

Three people have been arrested after a break-in and theft at Christies Beach this morning.

Sometime between 7am and 8am today (Thursday 4 July), the occupant of a home on Saxon Street woke to find her house had been broken in to and two cars stolen, a silver Toyota Fortuner station wagon and a blue Subaru Forester station wagon.

Electronic items and handbags were also stolen from inside the premises. Thankfully the victim was not confronted and there were no injuries.

The victim was able to track one of the cars via GPS to nearby Ramsgate Avenue where both vehicles had been abandoned.

Police searched the area and arrested two of the suspects, a 26-year-old woman of no fixed address and a 25-year-old Port Lincoln man just before 11am. The group had also broken into a vacant room at a nearby hotel earlier in the morning.

A second male suspect climbed on to the roof of the hotel in an attempt to evade police.

After negotiating with the 22-year-old Birkenhead man, he was safely removed from the roof by MFS crews and taken into police custody just after 12.30pm.

All three suspects will face numerous charges including aggravated serious criminal trespass, theft and illegal use of a motor vehicle. They are expected to be denied bail and will appear in Court today or tomorrow (Friday).

The investigation is ongoing, anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at wwww.crimestopperssa.com.au  or phone 1800 333 000 – you can remain anonymous.
