A man has been reported for drink driving after he collided with a tree at North Brighton.

About 4.30pm Sunday 7 July, emergency services were called to Ilfracombe Avenue after reports of a Toyota Corolla sedan colliding with a tree.

Witnesses reported that the driver was attempting to drive away from the scene but was being prevented from doing so by members of the public.

When police arrived on scene they spoke with the driver of the vehicle, who fortunately wasn’t injured in the collision.

The driver, a 61-year-old man from North Brighton submitted to a breath test returning a positive result of 0.228, over four times the legal limit.

The man’s vehicle was towed from the scene and he has been reported for drink driving and drive without due care. He has been issued with a 12 month instant loss of licence notification.
