Drugs and weapons located in a vehicle at Somerton Park

Police Dog Neave sniffed out drugs and weapons at Somerton Park last night.

At 8.30pm Friday 5 July, patrols stopped a Toyota Corolla on Byre Avenue.

Checks revealed the driver, a 35-year-old man from Warradale was driving unlicensed and was breaching bail conditions. The man submitted to a drug test returning a positive result.

A dog operations member attended the scene and PD Neave located a quantity of methamphetamine and an unlawful weapon in the vehicle.

The driver was arrested for breaching bail, possessing a prohibited weapon, and possess a prescription drug, He was also issued with a three-month instant loss of license.

The man did not apply for bail and will appear in the Christies Magistrates Court on Monday 8 July.
