Foot chase ends in arrest for car breaker

One man has been arrested after breaking into cars along a Morphett Vale street this morning.

About 1.20am Monday 9 December residents were awoken by noises outside and saw two men attempting to break into vehicles along Marston Drive. The caller was able to provide a description of the men including that one was riding an electric scooter.

Southern District patrols attended the street locating the two men at toilet block nearby. Both men were startled by police and fled the scene, the man on the scooter heading east while the second man ran south on foot.

Patrols quickly ran down the man along Abbott Avenue placing him under arrest, however the man on the scooter was able to escape.

In the possession of the 28-year-old Morphett Vale man police allegedly located gloves, a mask and a torch. He was subsequently charged with illegal interference and going equipped. He was refused bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court today.
