Two Christmas thieves have been charged following a failed mail theft at Oaklands Park.
About 10.50pm Sunday 22 December police were patrolling along Diagonal Road when they saw two men standing shoulder to shoulder in front of an Australia Post letter box.
Police stopped and spoke to the men allegedly locating a homemade “fishing” device, consisting of double-sided tape on a metal plate, lodged in the letterbox where they had been standing.
The 42-year-old Daw Park man and 34-year-old Seaford Rise man, were arrested and charged with attempt theft of mail. They were refused bail and appeared in court today (Monday).
Today, Monday 23 December, police attended and searched a Daw Park home where they allegedly located another “fishing” device, a motorbike that is suspected of having been stolen and approximately 200kg of copper wire. The men may face further charges.
