A man has been arrested after attempting to steal groceries from a supermarket tonight.
About 6.45pm on Monday 2 December, police were called to a supermarket on Marion Road at South Plympton after reports of an assault.
A man entered the store and allegedly stole items, when he left the store a staff member confronted him, and he dropped the items and produced a knife.
The man dropped his phone as he attempted to run from the scene. A staff member picked up the phone and returned to the store. The suspect made his way back and tried to grab the phone and assaulted the worker in the process, pushing her to the ground. The victim suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident.
The suspect ran from the area and was located by Southern District patrols a short distance away in the rear yard of a home on Raglan Avenue.
A 23-year-old man from no fixed address was arrested without incident and has been charged with assault and aggravated robbery. He was refused police bail and will appear in Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday 3 December.
