Man arrested for breaking into a car at Christie Downs

Police have arrested a man after allegedly breaking into a car in Christie Downs this morning.

Just after midnight today (Monday 17 March), police received calls from residents in Stephen Cresent about a man breaking into a car.

Residents at the address detained the suspect male until police arrived and a 39-year-old man from Christie Downs was arrested.

Police searched the suspects bag locating a small amount of drugs, drug paraphernalia, homemade taser and baton.

The man was charged with assault cause harm, illegal interference, possess a dangerous article and drug offences.

The man was refused bail, and he is expected to attend in the Christies Beach Magistrate Court later today.

Police ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any further information that may assist with the investigation to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
