26 Apr 2025 6:45am

A man has been arrested after trying to evade police in the southern suburbs.

It will be alleged that about 12.10 am on Saturday 26 April, police spotted a blue Yamaha motorbike on Flaxmill Road at Morphett Vale, travelling east at excessive speed.

PolAir was nearby and tracked the bike as it went through backstreets towards Reynella, emerging near the Southern Expressway.

The rider was then seen near Hillier Road before riding into scrubland and bushes near the Expressway.

PolAir was able to direct patrols to where the man dumped the bike and was arrested.

The 24-year-old Morphett Vale man underwent a breath test and returned a positive reading of 0.092.

He was charged with driving an unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle, driving unlicenced, driving without due care and drink-driving.

He was bailed to appear in court at a later date.
