Southern suburbs man arrested by SA JACET

25 Mar 2025 3:49pm

A man will face court tomorrow after being charged with a number of child sex offences.

On Tuesday 25 March, Investigators from the SA Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (SA JACET), a partnership between SAPOL's Public Protection Branch and the Australian Federal Police, attended a southern suburbs home and arrested a 22-year-old man.

Detectives and Digital Evidence Specialists attended the home as a result of information received from the National Child Missing Exploitation Centre, suggesting a person at the address was trading child exploitation material online.

Initial forensic digital examinations revealed that child exploitation material was present on the man’s two mobile phones.

It was further identified that the man had a presence on a variety of online platforms commonly utilised in the trading of child exploitation material.

The man was charged with two counts of disseminating child exploitation material and two counts of possessing child exploitation material. The man was refused bail and is expected to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court tomorrow.

It is expected that further digital evidence will be found as forensic examinations continue and additional charges will be laid.

Detective Chief Inspector George Fenwick, Officer in Charge of the SA JACET said, “Alongside our partner agencies, we are absolutely committed to prosecuting anyone who goes after our community’s most vulnerable.”

“We need to be acting as a community to be cognisant to the risks that may be facing our children and prevent online child sexual exploitation.

Members of the public who have information about people involved in child abuse and exploitation are urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.accce.gov.au/report
