Teen arrested for arson in southern suburbs

A teenager has been arrested following a suspicious grass fire at Morphett Vale earlier this week.

Just after 8.15pm on Wednesday 19 February, police were called to a suspicious grass fire at Christie Creek in the vicinity of Marston Drive, Morphett Vale. The fire caused damage to approximately 60 metres of grass and scrubland.

Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries or damage to property.

Following an investigation, Detectives from Southern District attended a Morphett Vale address and arrested a 13-year-old girl, she was charged with intentionally causing a bushfire and breach of bail.  The teenager did not apply for bail and appeared in Christies Beach Youth Court on Thursday 20 February.
