Three teenagers have been arrested after allegedly threatening to shoot people with a replica firearm.
About 8.30pm on Thursday 12 September, Whyalla Police attended a shopping centre carpark on Nicolson Avenue after reports the occupants in a car were threatening to shoot people with what was believed to be a ball bearing gun.
Patrols were quickly on scene and spotted a black Nissan Navara being driven erratically and conducting burnouts in nearby scrubland.
Police stopped and searched the Nissan where they located a gel blaster handgun under the driver’s seat. Three occupants in the car were arrested, two 16-year-old boys and a 17-year-old boy, all from Whyalla, were charged with firearm offences.
The 17-year-old driver was further charged with misusing a motor vehicle. All three boys were granted police bail to appear in Whyalla Magistrates Court on 23 October.
