A trip to the cells for a speeding driver at Port Wakefield

A man has been arrested Monday morning after being detected travelling 177 km/h on the Augusta Highway.

Just after 9am 24 March, police from the State Operations Support Branch spotted a silver Toyota driving south on the Augusta Highway. As the car approached, police detected it travelling 177 km/h - a staggering 67 km/h above the speed limit.

The driver, a 47-year-old man from Western Australia, was arrested and charged with driving at an excessive speed. He was bailed to appear in the Port Pirie Magistrates Court on 5 May and his licence was disqualified on the spot for 6 months.

The man’s vehicle was impounded for 28 days.
