Driver caught speeding on peninsula

10 Jun 2024 2:42pm

A man has been issued a whopping fine for driving at an excessive speed on the Eyre Peninsula last week.

About 6.30pm on Friday 7 June, Eyre and Western Highway Patrol officers were conducting highway patrol duties as part of Operation Safe Long Weekend, when they spotted a Ford Falcon sedan heading north on Lincoln Highway at Port Neill.

The car was detected travelling at 155km/h in a 110km/h zone.

Patrols stopped the car and spoke with the driver, a 57-year-old man from Cummins.  He was issued a six-month immediate loss of licence and an expiation notice totalling $1939.  He also accrued nine demerit points.
