Driver reported after near miss on Sturt Highway

23 Jan 2025 10:53am

A woman has been reported for dangerous driving following a near miss on the Sturt Highway earlier this month.

About 7am on Tuesday 7 January, a silver Ford SUV was captured on dashcam dangerously overtaking a B-double truck on the Sturt Highway, Annadale.

The driver of the Ford overtook a truck on a bend resulting in it driving directly into the path of another oncoming truck.

The oncoming truck was forced to drive off the road onto the soft shoulder in order to avoid a collision with the Ford. The quick actions of the truck driver inevitably prevented a fatal or serious injury crash from occurring.

The near miss incident was captured on the oncoming truck’s dash cam.

Police from the Barossa Highway Patrol attended a Middle Beach home and reported the alleged Ford driver, a 54-year-old woman, for driving in a manner dangerous. The Ford was impounded for 28 days, and she will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
