A man has received a whopping fine on Christmas Day after he was caught travelling more than 45km/h over the speed limit.
Just after 8am on Wednesday 25 December, police were conducting speed detection duties at Main North Road at Blakeview when they detected a white Holden utility travelling at 141km/h in a 90km/h zone.
Patrols stopped the car and spoke with the driver, a 24-year-old man from Munno Para.
Police observed that the rear tyres on the utility were both below legal tread. The driver was issued with an expiation notice for exceeding the speed limit by 45km/h or more and for driving a vehicle in breach of light vehicle standards. The expiation notice totalled $2599.
The vehicle was defected, and the driver was also served with an immediate loss of licence.
