Truck driver reported after crash at Blair Athol

01 Nov 2024 2:51pm

A truck driver has been reported after a hit-run crash caused major traffic disruptions on Grand Junction Road earlier this morning.

About 1.20am Friday 1 November, a truck allegedly collided with a stobie pole on Grand Junction Road near Florence Street at Blair Athol and failed to stop. The impact brought down both the stobie pole and power lines resulting in a power outage.

As a result, Grand Junction Road has been closed in both directions between Main North Road and Prospect Road. Motorists are advised to take an alternate route.

Power has since been restored to the traffic lights at the Gepps Cross five ways intersection and at the intersection of Grand Junction Road and Prospect Road.

SA Power Networks continue to work at the scene to clear the road and rebuild the power infrastructure. For further updates see www.traffic.sa.gov.au

As a result of investigations, Heavy Vehicle Enforcement officers identified the truck and driver involved in the crash. A 34-year-old man from Mawson Lakes was reported for leaving the scene of an accident, driving without due care and acts likely to cause harm. He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
