Police have arrested a man after he collided with a parked car and a fence in Dover Gardens overnight.

Just after 11.30pm last night (Wednesday 13 November) police were called to Scarborough Terrace after reports a blue Toyota Camry had collided with the side of a parked vehicle in the street before crashing through the fence and into the front yard of a property.

Upon arrival, police located a man covered in blood walking away from the crashed vehicle. When police approached the man, he ran off and jumped into the yard of a premises. After a short foot chase, police were able to catch up to the man and arrest him.

The man, a 42-year-old from Dover Gardens who was the solo occupant of the vehicle, was treated at the scene by paramedics, before being taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries. A sample of his blood has been taken and will be forensically analysed.

He was charged with fail to stop and exchange details at a crash, driving under the influence and resisting arrest.

He was granted police bail to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on 2 January.
