Driver reported after fatal crash at Elizabeth East

A driver will face charges of cause death by careless driving following investigations into a fatal crash at Elizabeth East yesterday morning.

At 8.20am, Tuesday 2 July, police were called to Midway Road, near the intersection of Kinkaid Road, Elizabeth East after reports a Mitsubishi sedan had struck a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a 79-year-old local woman, was taken to hospital but sadly died a short time later.

The driver of the car, a 22-year-old Hillbank woman, was not injured and was taken to hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

Major Crash investigators attended and examined the scene.

The driver has been reported for cause death by careless driving and issued with an immediate loss of licence.

She will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

The woman’s death is the 45th life lost on South Australian roads this year.
