Speeding driver caught in Gawler Belt

A driver has been fined and lost his licence after being caught speeding.

About 3.15pm on Thursday 17 April, police were conducting speed detection duties on the Sturt Highway when they stopped a Ford sedan for exceeding the speed limit.

The driver was detected travelling 156km/h in a 110km/h speed zone.

A 31-year-old man from Two Wells was issued a six-month instant loss of licence and issued an expiation notice for driving whilst unlicenced and excessive speed, totalling $2688.00.

The driver was submitted to a drug test which returned a positive result.

The driver may be issued a further three-month instant loss of licence and may be summoned to court pending forensic analysis.
