A man has been arrested after his car was spiked in Edwardstown overnight.
About 8.15pm Sunday 24 November police spotted a Kia sedan at an address on Angus Avenue. Checks on the car revealed it had been stolen from a Plympton address on Saturday.
As the car left the address quick think patrols deployed road spikes puncturing all four of the cars’ tyres, however the car didn’t stop and took off in a westerly direction away from police.
PolAir was quickly overhead tracking the Kia through the back streets of Edwardstown and Plympton Park before the car popped out on Marion Road and travelled South.
The car turned into the back streets of Marion before it hit a dead-end on The Parade. Here, nearby patrols placed the driver, a 48-year-old man of no fixed address, under arrest.
He has been charged with illegal use of motor vehicle, unlicenced and dangerous driving to escape police pursuit. He was refused bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court today.
